Baptisms

We are delighted that you are exploring baptism for yourself or your child, we would love to discuss this further with you.

To clarify the terminology 'christening' and 'baptism' in fact mean the same thing but we sometimes use the term 'christening' when referring to a child.

Baptism is joining the family of Christ's Church - a family that spans the whole world with Christ Church, Dartford as your local church.

For a Child

A christening is the beginning of a wonderful journey of faith for your child.

Over the years to come, it’s a journey you’ll share together with your child by:

  • Helping them belong to the church community.

  • Being there for your child to talk to about the bigger questions of life – questions about hope, faith and love.

  • Praying for your child through the ups and downs of their faith journey.

  • Showing them practically how to make those good choices in life.

  • Helping them to learn more about their Christian faith, through their church and looking at the bible together.

  • We encourage families to consider children being confirmed when they reach secondary school (see confirmations page here)

For an Adult

This is your opportunity to publicly declare your faith in Jesus as you receive His gift of baptism. For adults we offer a choice of baptism by sprinkling with water or by full immersion in a baptismal pool. We encourage people being baptised as adults to be confirmed at the same time (see confirmations here).
